There is a story about a time when Jesus had gone into a town where there was a very sick man living. Likely he had been cast out of public and put in isolation due to the nasty rashes this disease caused him. Anyway, I’m sure he had heard about this man named Jesus, who was casting out demons, healing the sick and making the lame walk again and wanted healing for himself. When he saw Jesus, he bowed before him and asked him if he was willing to take away his sickness. Jesus replied, “I am willing.” Jesus touched him and immediately the disease disappeared. This story is documented by a physician named Luke and you can read the rest of it in the Holy Bible, the Book of Luke, Chapter 5.
For just a moment, I want you to think about this story. Can you visualize Jesus? Now, picture the disease-stricken man walking up to Jesus, bowing down and pleading for healing. Then, Jesus extends his hand and touches the man while the disease flees from him. Okay, now, same scene, different characters. Replace the image of Jesus with yourself. Look around, go ahead, do a 360. Think about all the people who are in your life–your immediate family members, your neighbors, your closest friends, your not-so-close friends, a coach your kids used to have, your child’s teachers, your boss, your clients. They have found you. They are in your path. They have needs. Open your spiritual eyes and tune in with your spiritual ears to find out what needs there are. Many times, these people will not be asking you for help. Whether there is pride, embarrassment or perhaps they don’t even know what they need. Are you willing? Are you willing, as Jesus was willing?
This week, focus on who’s there. Who’s been placed in your life? Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you and guide you to encourage them, comfort them and build them up. Love them well, you will never regret it.
Pray with me:
Father God, I thank you for your presence in my life. Thank you that you can give me ears to hear the cry of your people and the eyes to see needs unmet, without anyone having to say a word. Father God, use me to touch your creation and reach this generation of people. Reveal to me the people you have placed in my life, put in my path and in my circle. Give me signs, show me wonders and visions and put on my lips words of knowledge. I love you, Lord. In Jesus name I pray,
Amen.
