Welcome to Sweet Tendrils of Faith! This blog is birthed out of an urgent call to action from deep within me. I wrote my first “book” at the tender age of 8. It happened to be a sequel to the classic childhood story of Robin Hood. I have always had a fascination with the craft of writing. As a child, I wanted to be a comic book artist. Those dreams were squelched by the reality of adulthood. I ended up going to Texas Tech University, not to be an artist, but a Marriage and Family Therapist. I fell in love with children while doing an internship at The Children’s Advocacy Center and changed my focus from marriage and families, to children. Upon moving to North Texas, I started working in the Public School Systems as a Social Worker. That led quickly into getting my Teaching Certification. I taught elementary school and ESL classes for over a decade. The last 6 years I have spent the majority of my time pouring into my own children’s Christian education. Our family has been called to homeschool, so here we are.

I was born into a Christian family in Lamesa, Texas. At the age of 16 I decided that I wanted to make Jesus the Lord of my life. I married my middle school sweetheart at 18 and went off to college. Throughout my young adulthood, I kept my distance from church, religion and put Jesus in my back pocket……only to call on Him in desperate times. In 2010, at 29 years old, I became pregnant with TWINS. Out of desperation from one already failed pregnancy, I rededicated my life to Christ. No longer would I only call on Jesus when times were tough. When that day of reckoning came, I started seeking God adamantly, intentionally. In 2020, through a series of very fortunate events, I was connected to a church that God had prepared for me. A church that wants people to KNOW God, GROW strong in their relationships with Him and DO what God has called them to do .

This blog came to fruition out of my telling God, “I am available.” My church had called a solemn assembly of 24/7 fasting and prayer for 21 days. During this time, I wanted to be intentional with my time spent dwelling in the presence of God. The Holy Spirit led me to many, many scriptures in the bible. I am called by God to share His goodness with the world. Just as God gave a plan to David on how to build the temple (1 Chronicles 28:19), He has given me a plan for this website. Mark 1:3 says, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; Make His paths straight.’” I pray that this virtual space will bring GLORY to God, EDIFY His people and REACH souls that will be added to God’s Kingdom. May we forever be embracing the fullness of God’s love together! Just as the sweet tendrils of a delicate vine serve to strengthen and hold upright it’s body; may this webpage do the same for Christ’s body of believers.
